Just about 10 years ago, the city of Kitchener established heritage preservation in the area which initiated the redevelopment of old buildings into commercial and loft living spaces. Google’s decision to move to the old Tannery district in 2011, now known as the Innovation District, helped give new life and attracted more people to work and live in the growing city.
